Yogurt works fine. That new yogurt drink would work fine too. Check the label and make sure it contains active cultures (they nearly all do). Give about 2-3 teaspoons (you can't overdose). I buy a flavor I like and eat the rest. Those active cultures are good for you too. Give it everyday of her treatment and for a day or 2 after. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

Maggie, I don't have a probiotic on hand and all of the feed stores in my area are closed tomarrow. I read in some of the other post that I can give yogart instead, what kind do I need to use? Thank you for your help. Terry

I think you are looking at coccidiosis and the treatment with Sulfadimethoxine should do the trick. I usually see an improvement in 2 to 3 days. Be sure to treat for all 5 days. I stay at the 1 cc per 5 pounds dosage as coccidia are becoming resistant. Besides they always seem to spit some back at me. Sulfa drugs are very safe, be sure you give enough. Give a probiotic too, sulfa drugs can kill some of the beneficial digestive microbes too. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

I noticed this afternoon that one of my pygmies that I bought 2 weeks ago has diarrhea. She was born on May 29, 2006 and weighed 21.3 lbs on Oct.16,2006 when I wormed her with Ivermectin 1% cattle and swine injectable. I gave her 1.5 cc's orally and repeated the next day. Inner eyelids are salmon pink. I started her on sulfadimethoxine 12.5% at 5cc's for coccidia today when I noticed the diarrhea ( the vet gave me this when one of my other goats had coccidia). Is there anything else I need to do for her? She is alert, eating fine, and staying close to the rest of the girls. She is due for her second round of worming on Oct. 30. I don't have a temp on her yet because I had to leave for work shortly after I noticed the diarrhea. Thank you in advance. Terry
