My daughter is in 4H, she has two 5 year old wethers and a five month old doe. One of the boys beats the day-lights out of the doe. She's afraid to go in the barn at night, we have to carry her in, and bolts out in the morning. When it rains she stays out as long as she can crying. We kept her seperate from the boys for about a month, but she was lonely. Now, after watching how afraid she is my daughter wants to move her to her own pen. Other than another goat, what would make a good companion animal for her? We have a few chickens, 2 dogs, and 2 cats, but she needs something in the pen with her. My daughter needs to show rabbits this year for premier showmanship, would a large rabbit be OK? This little doe came to us very sick and spent the entire summer on meds and undergoing all sorts of test, she is still recovering. She is the sweetest thing you've ever seen, and my daughter spends a great deal of time with her in the yard, on walks, etc. So, I think she really needs a buddy. All of your suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Lori |
