No you didn't do anything wrong with the doe, I was pretty sure she wasn't going to make it but not going to say so. The milk of magnesia will also help with the acidosis, like the baking soda solution does. You can probably can give that twice a day now for a couple of days more. Continue with the penicillin. I am hoping for the best but he is not out of the woods yet by a long shot. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

Sadly, I did lose my doe. I had only had her a couple weeks but still took it very hard. I am continuing to treat the wether. He doesn't look real good, but also doesn't seem to be in real discomfort. I am certainly hoping that I can get him through this. I am starting to see the Milk of Mag. do it's thing as his poo is begining to get clumpy. Any certain recommended amount of the baking soda mixture to give at one time? He is really fighting me on this one. Evidently he hates it! Also, how often and for how long with the baking soda? |

I am losing my doe. I feel just sick. Too little, too late............. I gave her the veg oil and felt relieved to hear some gas moving. I also gave about 6-8 oz of the baking soda water. I got her up and tried to keep her front allivated. I worked with her quite at while, but during that time she quickly started going downhill. Did I do something wrong? |
