CAE IS NEGATIVE. INFACT THE VET IS UNSURE WHAT MAY BE WRONG. SHE HAS BEEN ON GOAT CHOW WITH FREE CHOICE MINERALS LIKE ALL OTHER NANNY'S. I THOUGHT ABOUT A MINERAL DEFFECENTCY FIRST AND GAVE HER A DOSE OF CALCIUM, VIT. E PASTE. IT DID NOT SEEM TO WORK. I THOUGHT SHE MAY HAVE BEEN ANEMIC SO I GAVE HER RED CELL DOSED PER VET. HER RIGHT LEG LOOKS LESS DEVELOPED BUT NO HEAT. I EVEN THOUGHT MAYBE FOOT ROT, NO SMELL NO BLACK DRAINAGE WE TRIMED THEM AND TOLERATED WELL. |

Do you know the CAE status for this doe? You can have a blood test done to find out if she is CAE positive. She may also be foundered. Are her feet very warm or very cold? Are they sensitive to pressure? Can she fully straighten her knees and are her legs straight? Are her legs bowed outward or knock kneed? Several mineral imbalances (calcium, phosphorus, zinc) can cause muscle and bone problems resulting in a goat that prefers to walk on their knees. What was her diet before you started her on vitamins and minerals? Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

I HAVE A 9 MONTH OLD FEMALE WHO WAS DOING WELL AT BIRTH AND PRIOR TO BREEDING THEN DEVELOPED INTO LAMBNESS IN THE FRONT LEGS. SHE WALKS ONLY ON HER KNEES, WE HAVE ENCOURAGED HER TO STAND MADE SURE HER HOOFS WERE CUT CORRECTLY, FELT NO FRACTURES, STARTED HER ON MINERALS AND VITAMINES. NO SWELLING. |
