Thank you both for your responses. She has been dewormed even though fecal was neg. They did a bone marrow biopsy to see if she was producing RBC's. They are checking for infection that could be causing suppression of RBC's from over production of WBC's. And she is being see by our vet. and several vets. at the Univ. of Ga. Large Animal Teaching Hosp. I believe they are doing all that can, but, she's my baby and I thought I might get some additional info. for them to consider. Thank You again.

No one does transplants on goats. You would have to keep them on immune system supressant drugs for the rest of their life to keep them from rejecting the kidney and that doesn't work.

Are you sure this is the cause of her anemia? has she been checked for worms? Worms can cause anemia severe enough to kill. Please check this simple cause by doing a fecal check.

Usually the diet of a normal goat is pretty low in iron and copper, both of which are necessary to produce red blood cells. Check this also.

Consult with another vet, preferably one at a veterinary college about simple options. Sounds a bit like your current vet may be out in left field, way way out...

You would probably need to contact the nearest vet school to you. I shudder to think what it would cost as human transplants are in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Sometimes we just have to make difficult choices. What is your vet telling you?

Does anyone do kidney transplants on pygmy goats? I have one that had a uterine mass removed. One of her ureters was cauterized during surgery. They reopened it, but the kidney was too damaged and now is nonfunctional. The other kidney was damaged by a drug, Banamine, and is not producing enough erythropoetin and now she has become SEVERLY anemic. So, I would like to know if anyone does kidney transplants on goats??? We are giving Epogen to bring cell count up, but, she ha s stopped responding well to this.
