Standing with the eyes closed, head hanging is a sign of pneumonia. If you can get Naxcel give that and give 1/2 cc to start then 0.3 cc twice a day by SQ injection. Naxcel is from the vet only. Order some Tylan 200, it is over the counter for use in respiratory disease, you might be able to get it at the feedstore. It works better than pen or Biomycin. You can give either penicillin or Biomycin, but if she also has pinkeye go with the biomycin. For the pen give 1 cc per 20 pounds so give at least 1/4 cc but I would give 1/2 by SQ injection twice a day. For the Biomycin you can give 1 cc per 30 pounds so give about 0.3 cc once a day by SQ injection. Neither pen nor Biomycin work real well for respiratory disease. She may not have pinkeye, you may have been seeing the start of this infection which is probably pasteurella pneumonia. You might want to start her siblings on treatment too. Be sure they are all eating. Also give her Liquid Children's Motrin for pain and fever, it will help her feel more like eating. The fiascofarm.com website has a very good medications chart print it out for reference. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

my poor little baby doe has yellow mucus at the nose and eyes. Which meds do I give? Biomycin? Pen G? I have to measure her to find out exact weight yet and take her temp but I'm waiting for help. How much to give per pound? she is probably 5lbs or so to give you some idea. I've never had to medicate anything that small before. She is sluggish and stands with her eyes closed so the pink eye must really be bothering her. She is a triplet and I can't really separate them but I guess I should remove the family from the pen. She and the other little two have had whitish/clear mucus for several days now but She turned up yellow today. THANKS! Cindy
