Should I give some Nutridench and Vitamin B Complex? I will get the loose mineral mix and start that. How much should I give and do you mix it with goat feed? Thanks for all the advice. |

You can wait 3 weeks from the last deworming and do a couple of fecal exams and check mucus membranes to see if the goats are improving. Dewroming is NOT an instant fix, the goats must heal from the damage done to the digestive system and build the red blood cells back up. This can take from a few weeks to many months. If they seem to be improving I might reworm them all in a month or so to get new worms that were in the larval stage. Goats don't utilize mineral blocks very well. They were designed for animals with large tongues or very roguh tongues. A loose mineral works much better. Be sure it has adequate copper, 900 to 1800 ppm. Latest thing I have heard about minerals it to not use a red colored mineral. These have iron oxide added for color and iron blocks copper and many other minerals. Don't know the actual validity of this statement but my red blocks did NOTHING for my goats but they are doing well with a gray colored loose mineral. If you are using a feed or mineral labeled for sheep and goats it DOES NOT have enough copper. A good substitute is a beef cattle mineral. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

This is the first time the goats have been wormed. Should I worm all the other goats in the same pen the same way? They have all had ivermectin and I did a 2 week repeat. |

Maybe the ivermectin isn't as effective in your goats anymore. Try Barbara's suggestion. Yes it is safe to do this. Ivermectin does kill lungworms too. The cough from lungworms may take several weeks to a couple of minths to heal. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

Are Cydectin and Safeguard safe to use if my goats have already been wormed with ivomec? Should I stay with that since thats what I'm already using? I checked her eyes and they are light pink. Not salmon but a step above pale. Thanks so much! I haven't seen signs of throwing up but still coughing alot. |

Its a dry cough. Diet hasn't changed with the exception I added a mineral block to there pen. When we got her she was never wormed. I wormed her with ivomec and I did a repeat today. When I saw her throw up she wasn't eating. I just took her temp. and it was 101.7. I will check her eyes but she is already wormed. Does ivomec treat lung worms also? Some of our other does are also coughing but not throwing up. |

Neither coughing nor vomiting are normal for a healthy goat. She could have lungworms, is the cough a dry hack? Intestinal worms can cause a cough too and they may also cause vomiting. Look at her lower inner eyelids they should be a deep rosy or salmon pink. If they are pale she may have intestinal or ruminal worms. Lungworms do not cause anemia so this check won't tell you if she has lungworms. Take her temp too. Has her diet changed lately? Some goats will also choke when eating and vomit, was she eating when you saw her vomit? Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

My 2yr doe has been coughing for a while now. Today I saw her throw up. At first when I asked about the coughing It was thought to be a virus. Is throwing up normal? There are no other signs. Eating, peeing, and pooping normal. Thanks for any advice. |
