You can give Goat Nutridrench, RedCell for Horses (half the horse dose) or Geritol Liquid (give the adult dose) once or twice a day for a cople of weeks to help rebuild iron in their blood.

Thank you for the information. One more thing the two goats that I have been giving LA 200 too are doing better but they are still very anemic. I started giving them Fortified B-complex. I was going to give them 10 cc sc injection
(approx. 40-50 lb billies). Is this correct and is there anything else I can do?
Thanks again,
Barrett Chandley

It takes several months for the damage from lungworms to heal.

One more question, I am pretty sure the pnemonia was brought on by lung worms. I bought them from the market and I wormed them which I know now was not the right dose. Since then I wormed them with Ivormec and Cydectin together to try and get any resistant parasites. They are still coughing alot and I am wondering if that means they still have worms or could it be something else? There are not many goats around this area and even our vets are not very knowledgable so this web site is a tremendous help.
Thank you,
Barrett Chandley

You can certainly try that. There is a good deal of resistance to oxytetracycline. The dose you state is correct. I prefer to use Naxcel at 1 cc per 50 pound once or twice a day for respiratory disease. You have to get this from a vet.

The dose for aspirin is 1 regular tablet per 10 pounds (25-50 mg/pound, one tab is good for about 6 to 13 pounds or so) every 12 hours. It degrades in the rumen so you need a higher dose. Aspirin (and other NSAIDS, such as banamine) can cause ulcers and digestive tract bleeding. Only give it for 2 to 3 days.

How high is the fever? I prefer banamine as you only have to give it once a day at 1 cc per 100 pounds.

Have lost several goats to pnemonia. My vet examined the lungs of one and confirmed. He does not do alot of goats so I was wondering about the treatment of any others. I was going to give 1cc LA 200 per 30 lbs sc injection for 5 days and give an aspirin for any fever. Is this right?
Thanks,
Barrett Chandley
