Sounds like a plan. Sme goats grow tumors, she may have been snake bitten. Most goats that are bitten by a snake make a full recovery on their own. I jst had that happen to one of my kids, her head swelled up, she was a bit uncomfortable but never really stopped eating or drinking. Less than a week later she is fine. This morning the swelling is larger, covering more of her neck but she still doesn't seem to be bothered by it. It is still hard as a rock and a little larger than a large grapefruit but it's growth is much slower than last night. I'm wondering if something stung or bit her- but the is no heat to it at all. It seems to be spreading up and around her neck rather than getting thicker. At least I don't think it will killer her before Monday now when I can call the vet. |

My 2 yr old Boer doe who is nursing a 2 month old bucking has a large swelling at the base of her neck- it is hard and covers both sides of her neck right where it meets the breast-it is quite large. It is not sensative- when I press on it she gurgles so I'm afraid it is pressing on her. She is eating and drinking and does not seem in distress but it has come on so fast that I worry about waiting til Monday to get her into the vet. She is not wearing a collar and is in a field only with the buckling. She does have CL and I have treated her for several abcesses which were nothing like this. I did have a vaccine made up for her but gave it to her a month or more ago. |
