Look for udder development. Try to get a breeding date from the seller. You can go to fiascofarm.com for some more signs to look for and to learn about checking the tail ligaments to predict how close kidding is. The same website has suggestions on what to have on hand and has pictures of a couple of does kidding. Fetuses do the most growing the last 4 weeks of pregnancy, and if the does are especially long bodied they may not show very much especially if they are carrying only one kid. There is a pretty good chance one or both are not pregnant. Alpines are seasonal breeders many does don't catch that close to the end of the season (March-April). Please locate and develop a working relationship with a vet that treats goats now just in case you need one during a kidding emergency.

We purchased two pregnant alpine does. They are suppose to kid around the end of August or September. We weren't given a date. What should we be looking for? They don't even look really pregnant. Will there stomach expand alot? Any advice will be appreciated.
