All cherry trees are toxic and there is not much you can do to save the goat. Cheery leaves, bark, twigs and pits contain cyanide and death is very quick. Contact a vet. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

I guess you already suspect the tree being poisonous. Here is a web site that has photos to help you confirm if it is a cherry tree. It says that different types of cherries are toxic. Unfortunately it say nothing about symptoms or treatments. http://www.ansci.cornell.edu/plants/alphalist.html On that page in the left column find and select on Cherries, Black cherry, etc. Here is the Goatworld info on Cherry. It has some info about first aid. http://www.goatworld.com/health/plants/cherry.shtml It may take some time before a forum medic sees and responds to your post. If you suspect such poisoning, prompt medical attention is necessary. There are contacts that are listed on http://www.goatworld.com/911/. They are volunteers there to help in such an emergency that could save your goat. Sorry I cannot be of more help. I am not familar with this condition. |
