If it is hot there it would cause the panting. And since she is so anemic her blood is not transporting oxygen very well either. Check her temp if it is above 105 then start the nuflor again, but keep giving it for at least a week. And YES a heavy worm load will certainly cause a drop in production. You might want to give a double dose of cydectin tomorrow. I used to double the dose all the time. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

I gave her Cydectin this afternoon. Then this evening she came in with heavy respirations and panting. Should I give her some more Nuflor, it seemed to help last time? Also, would an intense infestation cause her to drop her milk production? Thanks. |

Please deworm her now. Anemia this bad is life threatening. You can use both dewromers at once, but tapeworms don't usually bother adult goats much and since they don't suck blood they don't cause anemia. many people need to deworm 4 to 6 times a year. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

I wormed her with Cydectin when she kidded over 3 months ago and I have been hearing that people are having problems with nose bots. I didn't know if worming her this soon would be good for her or not. She is definitely wormy. Her eyes are nearly white. Her respirations have picked up, but she was quite a touch-me-not when I was checking her. Her runny nose comes and goes. Mostly it is clear. This morning I couldn't be sure if the darker, almost brownish color was snot or blood from nose bots or maybe dust coming out with the snot. I'll wait until I hear back before I worm her. I also have Safeguard for tapeworms, I will prob. use that too, unless you say otherwise. Julie} |

Hi, What color runny nose does she have. Have you checked for ruminal sounds? Her temp seemed find. Check her inner eyelids and gums to see if they are nice and pink. Get back to me as soon as possible. Barbara Howard Capri-Medic jamesa@mrtc.com 606-522-3388 KY

My milk doe started to get sick about 6 days ago, runny nose and very heavy respirations. I gave her three days straight of 3cc Nuflor. Yesterday, she seemed fine. Today, she when I put her in the stanchion to milk her, she didn't even touch her grain and was in a big hurry to get out of the stanchion to her 3 1/2 month old kid. He milk production was nearly off by half as well. As a procaution, I gave her 5cc of a probiotic paste this morning. She looked like she may have tiny bit of a runny nose again, but her respirations are normal. Her temp this morning was 102.3. |
