Thanks Barbara. He is all better, except the hair has not grown back yet. it did have a scab from scratching. I had been treating the site all along before I had posted with Scarlex an anti bacterial, fungicidal, anaseptic spray. This seemed to clear it up. I wonder if he could have had fungus or just dirty hooves that infected the area to start with. He is no long scratching like he had been.
Thanks for your help.
Ann

Hi
Is the spot on his neck bloody or just hairless.
It is possible that he has menningeal but it dosen't sound like it.
If you want to treat for menningeal .
Give 1cc/20 lbs of injectable Ivomec but give it orally for 3 days in a row.
On the fourth day give him 12cc/100 lbs of safeguard orally for 4 days in a row.
If the itching is bad you can give him 4cc of childrens liquid benadyrl orally twice a day.
I would treat him with cylence for mites that may be the culprit that is causing him to rub.

I you could send me a pic of the place on his neck I can tell you more about it.

My 1 year old wether has been scratching his neck along his spine and it is somewhat hairless and has a sore spot. Could this be meningeal worms? He seems fine other than the scratching and it has been going on for a while and he has been treated for lice and I checked his eyelids. If meningeal is the problem what is the treatment?

Thanks,
Ann
