Hi Have these kids been wormed if so what with and how much? This is most likely worms and Cocci. Give them sulmet 12.5% 1cc/5 lbs day 1 and days 2-5 give 1cc/10 lbs orally. I would also give them Biosol[neo-mycin sulfate] 1cc/5 lbs every 12 hours day 1 then give them 1cc/10 lbs days 2-5 orally/ If they haven't been wormed I would use Ivomec injectable 1cc/20 lbs but give it orally. You can also give each one 10cc once a day of pepto to help soothe the stomach. Stay with the electrolytes 4 times a day they can go down fast from dehydration they need about a pint at the time. You also need to give them Probiosis once a day to insure that the rumen stays functinal. Check their inner eyelids and gums they should be a bright pink if they are pale to white that shows us they are anemic. Give them fortified vitamin b 4cc twice a day sq at least for 5 days. Please go ahead and pull a temp on them. Barbara Howard Capri-Medic jamesa@mrtc.com 606-522-3388 KY

Did you give banamine? 1 cc per hundred pounds. This helps with any type of intestinal upset, upper respiratory and pain. Pro-Biotics, sulfar pills, and Oxytet are another good combination to include with the banamine. Maggie would be the one to give specifics on what it could be. I had a doe that came down with diarehea hard and fast a week ago and I hit her hard with the above medications. She was much better by the next day. She had severe watery diarehea with mucus (stomach lining) and blood. Good Luck! |

I have 3 kids, ranging in age from 2 wk to 3 mo, that suddenly developed thick, pale yellow stools then watery pale yellow stools. Two have also been congested. All are weak and going down fast. I've treated w/Nuflor because of the respiratory symptom; Spectam for the diarrhea. I've supported with 50% Dextrose, B-Complex and Thrive, a probiotic and electrolyte fluid. The diarrhea isn't like other temporarily loose stools that I've seen and that always responded quickly to Spectam. The oldest kid had C & D Tet vaccine but not the 2 youngest. I wish I knew the cause. They haven't been in the same pen with each other. The youngest died just an hour ago. I am not very hopeful for the other 2. I'm afraid I have the beginning of an "epidemic." |
