Once the eyes become cloudy treatment takes a while, a week or even 2 sometimes. Be sure you are giving an adequate dose of LA 200. Be sure your LA 200 is not expired. Be sure you have kept it out of the light, not in the barn. |

Pinkeye is very contagious to other goats and to people. I use a triple antibotic ointment in the eyes 2 to 3 times a day if I can and give oxytetracycline (LA 200 or Biomycin 200) at 1 cc per 30 pounds by SQ injection once a day until the eyes are clear. I have found the injections to be the most helpful. Put her where there is deep shade or inside, light is very painful to a goat with pinkeye. You may be able to keep it from spreading to too many other goats by isolating her. It is spread through cheek to cheek contact or on hay and grain feeders where the tears have been spread, even on branches and twigs that have touched her face and then the face and eyes of other goats. Watch carefully for ANY other goats that seem to be avoiding the sunshine, for ANY other goats that do not open both eyes fully or that are barely squinting or blinking often. Watch for tearing below the eyes. These are the very first symptoms and if you treat THEN the infection can often be cured in 1 or 2 days. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

I think I know what to do homeopathically but what is the allopathic treatment? Maybe I'd better do both. Jn 3:16

Our weather is very humid for this part of the country and about 90 degrees. We also have kinda bad hay right now.. if that helps. I have to leave right now because my 90 yr.l old mother is near the end of her time. I will check back later. The doe is standing, her eyes are very cloudy, she appears not to be able to see, she would eat grain if I gave it to her, her eyes are almost closed. thanks I hope she will be alright but my Mom needs me ... emergency. carlene Jn 3:16

What polio symptoms is she having? Can't say anything about the eyes-what's your weather like. It's sunny 98 and very humid here and a lot my does are laying around with heavy eyes due to the heat and trying to stay a little cooler. Are they half closed while she is walking around or is she laying down? Cindy
