Do check the lower inner eyelids for color. They should be bright rosy or salmon pink. If they are pale pink or white it could be worms. It can also be that most of the herd overindulged in something they shouldn't have eaten, been fed too much, ate too little hay, etc and the diarrhea and being off feed is a goat's way of getting rid of the offending food. Or perhaps you vaccinated or dewormed very recently? This can do it too. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

I posted a question day before yesterday about one of my does who had the scours and was off her feed. She is doing well, now and back to her old self. The problem only lasted a 1-2 days. Since my post, two more does have done the same thing. It seems that something is going through my herd. There are no other symptoms other than scouring and lack of appetite. We are treating the scours, but, could anyone give me any insight as to what may be going on here? Any help would be appreciated. |
