For a 10 to 15 pound goat I give about 15 to 20 cc of vegetable oil. The vegetable oil will help if she is bloated it won't do anything for constipation. But do try both if you don't know if she is constipated. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

Not sure if she has pooped, Maggie. I did wonder if she might be constipated by the way she squats but i haven't seen her to know. How much vegetable oil to give? Would an ounce be good? Could I give both oil and enema together? Or should I do it separately. THanks so much for the prompt response! You have helped me so much with these quads - remember all my questions when they were first born?? We are enjoying them greatly! Again, Maggie thanks so much! Brenda |

Has she pooped? She could be constipated. You can give an enema using a Fllets Infant's Enema from any drug store. Take her temp too, normal is 101.5 to 103.5, most kids are at the higher end of the range. Is her stomach tight? She could be a bit bloated, give some vegetable oil and rub her tummy deeply to help her burp. Eighteen ounces at a feeding is alot, feed less but more often. I feed 4 times a day or more if I can. Her dam would not be letting her have this much in one feeding. She should be trying out solid food by now too. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

4 weeks ago we had quads. 2 regular size and 2 at 3 lbs. We have been bottle feeding the 2 smaller doelings and they have been doing very well. Last night one of the 2 would only eat half of her usual feeding. normal feeding is 18 ozs (so she ate 9 ozs). today same thing but we have noticed she squats as though she is urinating (but isn't) and her rear legs are trembling a bit. Other than that she doesn't seem lethargic but I know this isn't normal. The other kids from the group are fine and eating well. Can you tell me what might be happening. I suspect something is up with her but don't know what to do. Please help! Thank you! Brenda Tifft |
