The doe will kick 8 week old kids off some of the time to encourage them to go eat real food. She will let them nurse enough.

Maggie, she does have a misaligned bite, I am sorry I wrote again a second time. she has a underbite, her bottom teeth always show, and for a three year old goat her teeth look like a 10 year old goat, we always worry about these guys, and by the way our babies are doing really good, they are now about 8 weeks old, they want mom but mom does not want them, so they eat goat feed and hay, is that OK????? Thanks again for all of your help, we are the ones that lost the mom and a baby also and tried a C-section after the fact and lost the baby also.

Check to see if she is holding food in her cheek. This is called cud packing and often happens when a goat has a misaligned bite.

Maggie, We have a new problem, we have a three year old doe,she is healthy, eats, drinks, etc... but on the right side of her jaw she has a lump, the lump is hard, the lump occurs a couple times a day for the last two days, when we bring her inside and give her some grain or other snacks the lump goes away, then a couple of hours later the lump reappears, then we go through the whole thing again and it happens again, thought about a possible bad tooth, but she seems fine, other than the lump that is here and then not here. just checked her again and the lump is back, again a snack and gone??? Thank you again very much Jan Jones
