Yes is is safe to give a newborn an eye ointment. Check for turned in eyelashes too and keep her weepy eyes clean.

I have a doe with this who delivered her baby early. The baby is doing fine, but has some eye leakage also. Is it safe to apply the eye ointment to her? She is 3 days old and barely weighs a pound.

You can continue the Naxcel twice a day at 1 cc per 50 pounds by SQ injection. But it probably is a virus since she does not have a fever.

Goats do not utilize a block very well (their tongues are too small and too smooth to lick enough to do any good) but I don't understand whether you are providing a solid block of minerals or a loose mineral that looks like course sand.

Take her temperature if she has a fever start antibiotics. A fever can bring on premature delivery. Check the eye for foreign material, treat with a triple antibiotic eye ointment if you find pinkeye. Pinkeye or having something in their eye can cause a snotty nose....

I have a boer doe due july 12 she has developed a crusty eye and a snotty nose. She looks like she is going to have twins or triplets. I don't want to stress her in anyway. She has been wormed with Ivermectin within the last 2 weeks via mouth. I'm going to give her BoSe this weekend and vaccinate her for c and d
I just don't like giving her antibiotics it seems that stresses them out to much. Should i hold off on the AB's or what should i give . I'm starting to have a medicine chest for these goats. Please suggest what i should give.
Thanks
