Jerry I would treat for worms and coccidia. FOr worms give Ivomec Injectable for Cattle, give it orally not as an injection at 1 cc per 25 pounds. It is very safe you must be sure to give enough, round the dosage up 1 or 2 ccs. To treat for coccidia give a sulfa drug such as Albon or Sulmet 12.5% Drinking Water SOlutions. These are sold at the feedstore for poultry, rabbits and cattle. Do not mix witht he water, give it straight from the bottle as a drench, a 1 cc per 5 pounds for 5 days. You must give it for ALL 5 days. If you miss a aday start over. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

Diarrhea can be a sign of worms. Deworm her the day she kids. The stress of the last days of pregnancy can cause dormant worms to start to become active. With all the pressure of the kids on her guts she may just have a bit of digestive upset...Many newly kidding does also get a touch of diarrhea as the organs move back to their prepregnancy positions. You can give kaopectate to help with the diarrhea, but it only treats the symptom not the cause. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

My fainting goat is due to kid any day and she has gotten diarrhea the last 2 days. She is eating and drinking fine. I cleaned her off last night and noticed there is a creamy white discharge, like mucus, which I understand this is normal. I don't know what to do for the diarrhea right now with her due any day. Please help. This is all new to me. First goats. Denise e-mail halfpint55@sbcglobal.net Thanks |
