There is an ivermectin pour on, not a spray. I have had good luck using it but you need to run regular fecal samples to be sure it works in your herd. Give 3 to 4 times the cattle dose by weight. Let the doe out with the herd or out in a paddock. A doe kept in a small stall will just lay around and do nothing. Maggie |

I am worried the my nanny is not getting up and around as much as she did before the had the twins. Should I be worried?? I feed the kids 4 times a day with Purina Kid Milk Replacer. My friend has had lots of luck feeding it to her babies that the nanny would not take. Does anyone know if using the ivermec spray works for goats? or how much to use? |

Safeguard doesn't work in many parts of the country so I usually don't recommend using it at all. The dose for it though is 4 times the cattle or horse dose by weight for 5 days repet in 2 weeks (Another reason I don't use it is its too labor intensive!). You can use Ivermectin (Ivomec injectable for cattle) at 1 cc per 25 pounds given orally. It is safe for all goats, kids, bucks, pregnant and lactating does...It is very safe be absolutely sure you give enough. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

Kids are always hungry. I feed as much as they want without pushing it 4 to 5 times a day until they are 7 to 8 weeks old then start leaving them a bit hungry to encourage them to eat more solid food. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic
