No you didn't do wrong, I would have tried to save the kid(s), but the outcome was pretty typical. Even on relatively healthy does you often lose both the doe and the kids during a c section. Premature kids seldom survive either. Owning and raising any kind of livestock or animal is a heartbreaking and heartwarming experience. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

Maggie, just wanted you to know that after a hard last three months I think we finally got it, the pink eye is gone, we finally had a set of twins, really fun to watch, still have more due but not until Fall, I wanted to ask you a question, we had a doe I purchased from a friend the doe was expecting, she was sick as I wrote to you about. was it wrong for us to do a C-section on the mom after the fact?????? I went by what my Vet said we did it immediately, we have heard so many thing about this, when you lose the mom and the baby is still moving, what do you do??????? we did what we thought we should do, but the baby did not make it either, the vet said the babay was a premature baby, but it still haunts me. I told the person we got her from and she now will not talk to me, I feel we did everything we could and more. just wanted your thoughts on this, not a day goes by and I do not think about this, but we still have 27 pygmy goats, and twins, from another mom, did I do wroing????? Thank you, Jan Jones |
