This is normal for Tylan it REALLY STINGS. Check for a fever, most goats early in a bout of pneuamonia have a fairly high fever (105 or over) The pelleted dewormer often doesn't work. The goats that need it most don't eat enough. Mnay times the ingredient used in teh dewormer is not effective anymore (safeguard is one of these). Check her lower inner eyelids for color. They should be depp rosy or salmon pink. If they are pale pink or white she is anemic from worms. Use Ivomec Injectable for Cattle, give it orally at 1 cc per 25 pounds. Repeat in 2 weeks. You can give Goat Nutridrench or Geritol (use the adult dose) for a week or 2 to help rebuild her iron. Pneumonia is seldom spread directly from goat to goat but conditions can make vulnerable members of a herd come down with it. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

I have a 75 pound 1 1/2 year old boer doe who is due in August. She has been making a snorting noise for a couple of days, now today has a snotty nose. I gave her 3 cc of tylan 200 im in the neck. I know it stings but she acted like i was killing her after i gave the shot. I know how to give injection I'm a licensed animal tech. But i have never given tylan 200 to my goats before. Is this a normal behavor? She was wormed with pellets last week. i had two goat already come down with pneunmonia 3 weeks ago with were away from this one. Now this one is kinda acting this way. |
