Yes you can use that one. The dose is the same, be sure you do not underdose. It is quite safe.

Maggie you really "should" write that book. Then at least you'd get something back for all your hard work. Thanks so much for the help.
The little nigerian doe is bothering me alot tonight because all she wants to do is lie down with her head stretched out. I got her up to pray over her (: She looked around, stuck her head out of the pen (she moves very slowly and her eyes look like a sick animal , you know, kinda bloodshot). She is not eating. I will worm her but I don't have the albon here (will get it tomorrow). If you think of anything else I can try , I will. I hope I have not given her too much "stuff"... I gave her 4 squirts of nutridrench and about 1 cc of fortified B complex but that didn't help.
Talk later
you know I'm so grateful

At 8 weeks old she is likely wormy or has coccidia or both. Treat with Albon for 5 days and give ivermectin injectable at 1 cc per 25 pounds (give at least 1 cc).

I use a beef cattle loose mineral for my goats, after I spent alot of time comparing labels on all of the minerals my feed store could order from their supplier. Look for one that is 2:1 ration of calcium to phosphorus, 900 to 1500 ppm (or a little more) copper, and 3000 to 5000 ppm zinc. I have used the minerals from Caprine Supply (Buck Power and their other mixes) and Golden Blend from Custom Milling and my goats did well on these too. But I found one that was very close to these and I didn't have to pay shipping and could order with my regular order of feed. Goats use a loose mineral much more effectiviely than a block. I have a very handy mineral feeder made from PVC pipe on my website at www.maggidans.com on the Good Idea! page.

Giving the right mineral and getting your feeding program tuned is the best fix, but it is not a QUICK fix. These changes take time to make a difference even though you amy notice a subtle improvement in only a few weeks. It was really 6 months to a year before I really knew I was on the right track.

If she is really bloated vegetable oil is a much more effective treatment, give 1 tablespoon to 1/4 cup to up to 1/2 cup depending on the age and size goat. This is much more effective at breaking up the bubbles trapping the gas. Give baking soda AFTER the bloat is relieved to counter the acidosis from the slowed or stopped rumen movement. If she is eating she is not bloated, but is pot-bellied from worms or coccidia or both.

You can use Liquid Children's Cold Formula for treating respiratory symptoms. Give at 1 cc per 10 pounds every 4 to 6 hours. If she has a thick yellow or green nasal or eye discharge she may have gooten over the fever part of the infection (or be so low on energy she can't run a fever) and still need an effective antibiotic. When treating respiratory disease I don't ever rely on penicillin or oxytet anymore there is too much resistance to these drugs.

I swear I am going to write a book with everything you guys are helping me to learn and think about!

Thank you
I only have CDT
what do you use for minerals? I am very interested in working with my herd that way. I also have another 8 wk old that looks and acts sick . She is al hunched over, drinking water but bloated. I just gave her a little baking soda (she is also very congested but does not have a fever).
I thank you so much
I need all the help I can get right now.

Two and a half weeks old is too young for coccidia. This could be enterotoxemia (fever, shaking, diarrhea...). DO you have CD antitoxin? This is not the vaccine...The dose for penicillin is 1 cc per 20 pounds by SQ injection 2 x day for at least 5 days.

Panicillin is not the best drug for the snots. I like to use either Naxcel (prescription only) at 1 cc per 50 pounds by SQ injection twice a day for 5 days or Tylan 200 (Tylosin) at 1 cc per 20 pounds by SQ injection once a day for 5 days (this one stings but is very effective.

I know alot of people blame the weather for snotty noses but I have the same weather and I show my goats and my kids rarely have the snots. I attribute this to adequate minerals in their diet, especially copper, zinc and selenium. Really! When I got the minerals right most of my goats health problems went away.

Problem here. I have a 2 1/2 wk. old kid with a problem. Started with a cold, then diarrhea today I gave some natual coccidia remedy and now he has a fever of 105.5? He stands and shakes and I don't think he is nursing much. He is pretty active but i am very concerned ... also have lots of babies with snotty noses (the weather?) and one 8 week old doe is also in trouble with possible pneumonia. I don't know the penacillin dosage but I have some.
Please advise.
thanks
