After giving the first injection of CDT to a kid it is boostered in 21 days. Then it is given every 6 months to one year, depending on how much of a problem enterotoxemia and tetanus is in your herd. What were they dewormed with before? How much was given? Valbazen is given at 1 cc per 10 to 15 pounds. You might want to collect a fecal sample and have an exam done. I was hoping that if I gave a dose of pepto it would help calm things down, so much for that. I'll treat with the albon. When should they get the cd&t injection again? Worming: they were wormed just before I brought them home, 4/15. I have valbazen on hand. I haven't wormed them since. Should I do it now? If I should, could you give me the guidelines on how much per lb. I think it's 1 cc per 10-15 lbs. ???? Thanks again, Falla Falla's Lush Acres Dairy

You can do the 5 day albon treatment again just in case they have coccidia again. Kids with coccidia will continue to eat well. Have you dewormed them? The once a week albon treatment does nothing for a kid with an active coccidia infection. Pepto only treats the symptom it dose not treat the cause of diarrhea. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

I have 2 kids that have developed scours as of yesterday. These are part of my 4 nubian doelings that had scours a couple of weeks ago (I posted here about them) that I ended up dosing with albon and also got their cd & t shot. The 2 that have scours now are the 2 that weren't very bad last time. OK, so they cleared up. Now the 2 have very green loose stools. They have been eating very well, and in fact have not slowed down even tho they have diahrrea now. I've given them the pepto (yesterday and today). I'm not sure if I should give the albon again. I think I read somewhere here about giving albon once a week as preventive (can't find that info now). Anyway, the little doelings don't seem to be slowing down, so I don't think they feel too bad. Just don't want them to get worse. Is there anything else I should be doing to get this under control? Also, is it possible that they are eating too much in the pasture. Not sure if I should limit thier time out grazing? Thanks! Falla Falla's Lush Acres Dairy
