Thanks Maggie, I thought perhaps it might have something to do with the diarrhea, she is the one who had it the worst. I had posted about them and you were so helpful. That's all cleared up, as I said, but I had worried about her tiny butt getting sore, and so thought this *might* be related. I'll keep an eye open as to any more showing up, but the answer to your question Barbara is that no, no other sores on her or anyone else in the herd. I looked them over closely as I immediately worried about that <whew> however, I'll keep watching out for anything on anyone else.. Thanks again to both of you for watching out for me/us!!! I've had this on some kids and a few adults. I either spray with an antiseptic spray (that purple stuff) or apply an antiseptic sauve. It is probably a staph infection and responds well to the usual wound treatment. It seems to happen most on the ones that have a bout of diarrhea or on my recently kidded does that have alot of after-kidding discharge (lochia). It is correctly described as a pustule. I have a nubian kid that has a little sore on her butt. It looked like a pimple, perhaps a little larger... about 1/2 the size of a pea. It had a white top, and a bit of pus came out of it. I don't believe it's an absess, but don't know what I would call it. It was still in the bare area of the butt, however, closer to the hair line. Any ideas if this is something I should worry about? Up till now they've all looked good. Got past the scours, nothing else seems to be wrong. I did clean the sore up, all the pus came out, but still can see the sore there. Not sure if this is something I should be worried about????? Thanks, Falla Falla's Lush Acres Dairy
