Pinkeye in goats is often caused by the chlamydia bacteria. If the kids are playful and active they are getting enough to eat. When offering a bottle be sure the milk or milk replacer is very warm, it will feel almost hot on your wrist. A goat's body temp is quite a bit higher than ours and kids are very sensitive to milk that feels cold. Maggie Leman Goat 911 Capri Medic

Hi maggie, Dave wrote you last Sun. about ourlittle billie that we lost, since then we had the vet out on Wed. one of our does has had crusty eyes, and we thought it was pinkeye, find out from our vet on Wed. it was clamidia {spelling} {bacteria}, she was treated for that, but the symptoms are so close, then Wed. night we finally had a set of twins born, the mom has no signs of the problem, we have had her seperate for awhile since we thought it was pinkeye, and now her and the babies are seperate, what are the chances that they could get this, and also how can I be sure if the babies are getting enough milk from mom, the poo and pee is fine, not sure if one is getting enough, we will also tomorrow try the milk replacer formula from Goatworld, the mom has a complete full milk bag, and we have milked her, and have tried the bottle not much luck, Thank you again for all of your help |
