I would supplement them with a bottle. hen you will have very friendly kids with only half the work. The articles page has a very good milk replacer recipe under Kids and Kidding. Offer them a bottle 2 to 3 times a day and left the doe continue to nurse them when she will.

If you hold her o let them nurse she will soon catch onto the idea and you won't be able to catch her anymore.

Just wanted to update you on the kids, both are doing better. It was pneumonia that had ahold of them, but it didn't present itself as usual no runny nose or coughing until they were very sick with it. They may have got it as a sub. infection to something else, don't know for sure.
I had one more question for you, I have a Pygmy doe that had her babies 12 days ago and she won't let them nurse like they should. I have checked her milk to make sure that she dosn't have mastitis and have found nothing. She dosn't have any sores either, she is very touchy when you try to feel her udder and when the kids go to nurse she lets them suck about 10 sec. before she jumps away. I know that they were not getting enough so I have been giving them milk from other goats. Any ideas would be great and once again THANK YOU from the whole family for all the help}}.

Temps. in the whole pen were up yesterday ranging from 103.6 - 105.2 that is why I decided to give the LA200. I only gave it to the ones that seemed to have runny noses and a fever for now. Probably would be best to dose them all, the weather here the past few days has not helped much either, very damp, I know that if the sun would come out some of them would feel a little better.

You can give nearly all injections SQ, much less muscle damage that way! I haven't given an IM injection in years. But you probably should devide it up into 2 different sites even going SQ.

What was their temp when they had a fever? Normal is 101.5 to 104 for kids.

I forgot to ask if I should give this B1 SQ or IM, I would guess IM because it is a much larger dose, also should I give it in different areas half in one half in another?

OK. I didn't see any bottles of fortified on the shelf so I will give them more and see if it makes a difference. One of them seems to be a little better tonight, that could be because I gave them LA200 for what I think is pneumonia. They are still eating but are not as interested as normal. I also noticed that the one that isn't doing as good has started coughing sounds wet. THANKS again for all the help.

No you have to give 1 cc per 2 pounds when using the regular formula. You have to dose according to the amount of thiamin in each cc. The regular formula only has about 12 mg/cc, the dose the goats need is at least 5 mg/pound. You can't really overdose. So for a 10 pound kid you need to give 4 to 5 cc.

I just purchased a new bottle today, but it is not fotified like the old stuff that I had. Should I still give the same amount of this B1?
They did have fevers last PM but I haven't checked them today.

Do they have a fever? Most goats with pneumonia don't have much appetite either. How old is the Fortified B? Check the expiration date. Do you leave it in the barn (very low and very high temps destroy it) or has it been exposed to light? It can go bad pretty easily it is fragile. Giving it every 3 to 4 hours still?
