Be sure to handle the kid often especially during his first days. He will grow up alot friendlier that way. Mom won't mind so long as you don't go too far away from her.

You can put a glove on, lube up and insert a couple of fingers into her vagina as far as they will go to see if you feel anything hard like a foot. The delay in her passing placenta may be a mineral deficiency such as selenium. You can try "bouncing" as outlined here: http://fiascofarm.com/goats/bouncing.html but this works best just after the first kid is born.

They don't get their shape back for a couple of days and can look still pregnant. The floor of the abdomen should always be fairly firm. If she has passed the placenta and is caring for the kid she is probably just fine. Be sure she is giving milk, milk out a couple of squirts from both sides.

If she is living with a buck he will have her pregnant again in 5 to 30 days. Her little buckling will be fertile at about 12 weeks old.

Deworm her today or tomorrow, the stress of kidding make dormant worms become active. Use Ivomec injectable for Cattle given orally to goats at 1 cc per 25 pounds. It is very safe, be absolutely sure to give enough.

My little pymgy delivered a healthy baby boy sometime late last night. She and the baby were up and doing fine this morning. My concern is the mama still has a very hard swollen abdomen. She delivered placenta with the last hour. At least 6 hrs after the birth of her kid this morning. She seems fine other wise is eating and drinking but I'm concerned about her hard abdomen..Thank u in advance. A very nervous first timer.
