Since your vet does not think the Lutalyse was necessary, what drug does he recommend? I would go back and ask for the dosage of Lutalyse at the rate of the weight of your doe. Or look for a serious vet. I had a 11 month old boer doe that accidently got bred. My vet sold me 2 syringes of Lutalyse. Dosage was based upon the weight of the doe. She was 4 to 5 weeks bred. Used the 2nd injection 2 days after the first so she clean out better. Sure enough about the 3rd day she expelled a formation. It took some time after that for cycle to get straightened up. She dripped bloody mucous for a couple of weeks. At about the 7th day I saw dialtion occur somewhat and the doe acting a little paraniod. But the Lutalyse worked very good. |

But lutalyse is prescribed by vet & my vet doesn't deem this necessary. He's also the one that told me there was no way a 2 month old could get pregnant, but there we were 5 months later, pulling a big buck kid. Anyway, I don't even know if they were together, but I want to make sure. There are no other goat breeders in my area to ask. This is the only vet that will deal with goats. So am I stuck? |

Hi, I always use Lutalyse on the 11 day and 12th to make the kid void.}}}} Barbara Howard Capri-Medic jamesa@mrtc.com 606-522-3388 KY

A doe that was not to be bred to this buck got loose yesterday. They were not seen "together", but can't take that chance. Some one told me that you can give Black Cohosh to cease a heat cycle. It will also make the pregnancy void. Is this true? I do have some but will wait until I know it is safe! }This is a 1 yr old pygmy doe, who had a very, very difficult first birth (at 7 months!!)& was not planning on breeding again. The buck is to leave this week! |
