About the Author

Anatomy discusses each of the various organs of the goat in more of a graphic detail through the use of detail oriented photographs.

Caution!

Many of the photographs in this section are of a medical nature and may not be suitable for viewing by those individuals sensitive to images of this type.

In an effort to better understand 'what killed a goat', producers are often likely to have a "necropsy" performed. This is a post-mortem (after death) examination, performed to determine the cause of death that is valued at correctly determining the cause, better than 75% of the time. The difference between an "autopsy" and a "necropsy" in case you are wondering? An autopsy pertains to humans. A necropsy would pertain to anything other than a human. Many of these photographs become valuable tools in learning about our goats. A necropsy is not a procedure the average person can perform, but being able to do so may go a long way in helping to determine the cause of a good goat expiring for no apparent reason.
