I thought I'd share this thank you letter I sent to my vet today. The actual letter included a photo of the mother and two kids. For anyone in the Gilroy Ca. area I highly recomend this Vet Hospital.

Dear Dr. Byerly;

When we got our goat Heidi a little over a year ago she was about a 10 days old, very weak and not doing well. You diagnosed her, medicated her and gave us medication and instructions as to what to do for her at home. She recovered completely and became pregnant early this year. In the beginning of July I thought she was ready to kid but she again seemed ill. After making a house call you advised me she had some further health problems. I brought her to the hospital and you again diagnosed and treated her. You determined she was not yet ready to give birth and that she had a bad infection. Your treatment there and the treatment you instructed me to carry on at home again pulled her through. You also mentioned that it would be a while, probably about a month, before she would give birth. You said she would have twins but unfortunately you thought one was already dead and advised me to let her carry it to term. I know that medical diagnosis is not always an exact science, and this may be the case here. As you said, Heidi did in-fact give birth - about 5 weeks later- and she did have twins. But then, thankfully, the rest of the diagnosis may have been a bit off the mark.

Now, at the ripe old age of 5 days, both kids are energetically nursing every 20-30 minutes. They are both very active - running, jumping ( if not too gracefully ) and nibbling on corn husks and sweet cob. They are both climbing up on Heidi, "butting" the chickens and ducks and bravely challenging "Gus" the goose - the undisputed king of the pen.

It is very heartwarming to see all this activity but I must admit it is getting harder and harder to tell which of the kids is the dead one !!

From me, Heidi, "MarJo" and "Augustine" our sincere thanks to you and the staff at Tri-County Veterinary Hospital for the expert medical help and excellent service you have provided. I will continue to use your services for all my animal's needs.

Thanks
