Next year we are going to officially show in 4H, I was too sick this year to mess with it and had surgery the day before the showmanship class was held so I just need some basics on grooming. 1) what clipper blade or guide would I use for a body clip. 2) Is this anything like showing horses, do you do anything to make hooves look pretty besides a good trim? muzzles? besides a good clip? 3) do you have to use a chain collar or can you use a thin leather? And what should the lead be made of? (for any show)? I have more questions but this will get us started, we are going to practice on Bubba. He is pretty compliant and loud noises don't bother him. Is there a website or a good book, been having trouble getting good info from the extension office here they are not as on the ball as in Mo. and we are independent 4h'ers so that dosen't help.
Thanks all. I must seem like I have a ton of time on my hands but I get up at day break and do my chores and ride the horse before it gets hot. now I am just thinking of things to do so i don't have to do things outside. =)
