Helen we have terrible deer flys in the fall here and I was thinking about getting a "thingy" do they work very well? I could see the goats jumping over it and on it and trying to use it for a balance beam, esp Teddy the Terrible. Also I was trying to figure where to put it. We hope to be rotating 4 pastures by this fall so the horses will be running in the same fields as the sheep and goats. My big gelding Scooter would see the "thingy" and figure it's a toy. He is sure to get tangled up and really boogered in something like that. He is like a 1200# Dennis the Mennis that one good thing he was not born a goat.....we'd never keep him in. Good Luck w/Eris I bet she is VERY disgruntled about this whole thing, I can just see the look on her face. Give her a hug for me if she will let you.
