Hi Mary, I think marketing is probably the main problem with alot of people unless you live closer to the big cities. We know several customers that do buy our goats right off the farm for meat and there are meat brokers that come around certain areas but even with that the closest pick up point is still a good 2 hours away. So we decided to go with fullbloods, we just simply couldn't keep the percentages due to demand I have sold my whole herd 2 times now and have started over with fullbloods. I do also have a few registered percentage does but those I kept to increase and improve the lines in our herd. Otherwise they'd be gone too. All of the buyers where close to Mpls/St.Paul (we live in Minnesota)from what I have heard there is a strong market there.
