Mary thats not a silly ?:) Straw is cheaper then hay.. Maybe she just has access to her own hay and uses hay instead.. I have access to all the hay I wont, but I don't use either for bedding.. I did put straw down the first year I had goats and it took me a month to remove the mess I had after that first winter and another month for the floor in the barn to dry out..It was smuchie as you would walk. I haven't used anything but shaving since and the barn floor is always dry. Lucky I live in a climate that I really don't need bedding other then shavins.. Sandy & Kids
