Hi Helene,
Personally I think that 3 weeks is much too early to wean a kid. The mother will become more bossy as the kids get older, enough to say, "you will nurse from me when I want you to". I think that is their way of encouraging them to venture out on their own more, encouraging them to eat some grain and hay, but I feel at this young age, they still need their mother's milk also. Kind of like giving a human baby formula along with it's solid food. The very earliest I would attempt to wean would be at 6-7 weeks. Is there a reason you want to wean him? Are you going to venture into milking? Have fun, and good luck.
