In Reply to: Covexin-8 is it safe for goats? posted by Dixsigns on May 04, 2002 at 02:32:06:
Hi, Covexin-8 is safe for goats not sure on the dosages though. I know people treat there herd with it to prevent certain strains of mastitis. Gangrenous mastitis, Malignant Edema, and Black Leg are all related, gas under the skin which kills tissue. So if you have had any of this diagnosed on your farm you should switch your vaccines from plain CD&T to Covexin 8. This was told to me by my vet. We haven't used it in our herd we only give the CD&T. Unless some of these problems would show up then we would probably switch.
