Most of my Boers have at least one extra teat. I also freaked out at first but then learned it's not that big of a deal. The Boers were bred to have 4 it made for more efficiant(sp) nursing, esp. if there were trips or quads. I am told it's easy to snip one off if you do it when they are young but it is possible to snip the wronge teat, leaving you with little to no milk. But I am with Mary in that sometimes the split teats or extra teats don't give milk just watch the baby when it comes. So far I have not had any problems with it. Also just because the parents have extra teats does not mean the offspring will.
