I swear you guys if it is not one thing it is another. I was so busy yesterday, I didn't get a chance to post this.
On Friday afternoon about 2:15 or so, I was getting out of the shower, and our youngest son comes in ..mommy the goats are out (what else is new)..So I run out and get them back in..and our house dog a pitt bull name Hailey snuck out w/me..I didn't pay it any never mind, because she does not go anywhere just follows me around, or plays w/Ralph..As I am getting the goats back in the pen, I hear her barking like crazy, the kind of I am going to bite you if you come any closer to my house bark..I run out to the front yard my hair in a towel and my husband's huge boots on and our neighboor across the street who we never see is trying to come over..I ran out there..and she was telling me that the people on the other side of our woods had a fire going on and she just called 911..I turned around..and the fire was coming into our end of the woods, awful close to the house..
Ohhh S#@! I am thinking..and run to turn on the hose, to try and keep it in the woods until the fire men came..of course no water pressure..Other neighboors driving buy came over to help..thank god!! No fire men..they didn't know it was at our house too..I had to drive down to the end of the road and let them know..by the time i got back it was on our side of the fence, awful close to our barn..My animals are freaking out...Of course Mike should have been home from work by then, but he stopped off to run an errand.
To try and make a long story short..they got it out..and it did not get to our barn..just at the woodsline next to our house, and over the fence too close to the barn for comfort!!
I am telling you that was so scarey!! It started at our back neighboors house, who is a police officer..He was not home, neither was his wife..We are not sure how it got started..but of course they are thinking it was intentional...Luckly no one house or barns caught up..but it was a close call!! It got right up to our other neighboor back door!!..All these neighboors that we did not even know came to help..If it was not for them..I don't know if I could have kept it away by myself. My kids of course got off the bus before it was out and they came running scared to death..My older son jumped right in to help the fire men, and within 10 min after that Mike came home..
I am telling you wh en it rains here..it pours!!
