Now for another few questions..sheesh I am sorry for taking up so much of everyones time.
1) Eris's eating habits are not "back to normal"..she is eating "some" feed, but not alot. Yesterday I put a whole mess of fresh hay in there, and she did go to town on that..which is a good thing. I also have the loose minerals free choice, but I sprinkled some in the feed, as I know she is not going for the minerals. She is also drinking some, I have a small water pan in the barn w/her, still.
So should I be giving her something extra? vitamines maybe? I tried even hand feeding her crackers, and she ate one..and that was it..(I wanted to see if she would take something from me)
2) I tried going out and cleaning her hind end up some this morning. She is still pretty much a mess, she has some hay and bedding stuck to her..I used warm teped water and some johnsons' baby wash..she kept moving away, I am sure she is still sore there, but I really could not get to her to clean her up. My son tried holding her at the head, but she would not stay, and I do not want to force her..she has been through so much trauma, and I also don't want to bust a stitch or anything by making her move suddenly..so should I just leave her bee, or try and clean her up some more? The vet gave us antiboitic shots to give her an injection once per day, for 5 days..so she has today and tomorrow left for the shots. The C-section area is clean and there is no odor or anything, which means so far so good and no infection. The vet also gave both Eris and Little Nickie a Tetnus injection before they left. He said that goats are not as suseptable (spelling??) to tetnus as a cow or a horse would be, but he wanted to be safe (which I am glad, because not too long ago my father inlaw had a cow die from tetnus after she gave birth by c-section..I realize there is a big difference between a cow and a goat..but I too would rather be safe than sorry you know what I mean?)
Sorry again for all the questions, I probably should have asked the vet the day she had the c-section, but I was such a nervous wreck I forgot. Then I have not been able to get a hold of him for the past few days..
