Hi Helen, We disbudded and banded 2 bucklings last spring. They were only 2 weeks old at time of disbudding and a little older when we banded. We had purchased their mother on a Saturday and on Monday morning they arrived. This was our 1st. experience with goats, we have always raised cattle. The banding isn't bad as we have preferred that to cutting when we do calves, too much bleeding to suit me to cut them ourselves. We have no "goat" vets in our area and all the vets here charge far more than $5.00 for anything. When we disbudded these 2 last spring hubby had to do the nasty work as I assisted,I am a little too sensative for any more of that, seems cruel. Thought that either of us could deal with the dremmel approach if it is ok to do on older goats. Thanks for the web sites . Gloria
