Hi all,
I got to talk to this old vet I was telling you about. He graduated from Michigan State Vet School in 1941. I think he has seen it all. He said that this milk medication that he uses for pink eye used to be made by a pharmaceutical company but they stopped making it because it was not a money maker. He said it used to be in the Merck Vet Manual about 30 years ago. All it is, is sterilized skim milk with formaldehyde added as a preservative. You inject it subcutaneous twice at seven day intervals. It is especially effective for animals that have developed the cloudly cornea that is a dreaded event with pinkeye. It introduces a foreign protein to the animal and stimulates their body to boose their immune response and therefore helps to clear up the cloudy cornea. He made a bottle of it for me, 250 cc. and only charged me three dollars. I am looking forward to picking his brain for more old time treatments. THought you all might be interested in this. Dalice
