Hey all just thought I would give you a quick update on things. ET the pnumonia doe I told you all about a few weeks ago unfortunatly contracted pnumonia again. Our weather evened out the first time and while she was still recovering it got horribly cold, rained for two days and then snowed about 2'. We treated her but within two days she had stopped eating and died a few hours earlier. The rest of the herd seems to be fine and dealing with this crazy weather ok. But with the exception of one doe they are not as old as ET was.
Now on to the good side of things Granny Sheep is now doing well enough to go outside durring the day. She is grumpy as ever and stomps her feet whenever somebody goes into the barn. We are trying to teach her to lead however I think this is a mute point as she still just falls to the ground or runs blindly when pulled on. The unfortunate side of this is I can no longer tip her over if/when she takes of. I just run behind her yelling at my kids to stop chasing her, they of course laugh. I suppose to the bystander it is funny but when your getting drug by a fat geriatric ewe it's not so funny. Her pregnancy is progressing well she is bagging up and getting puffy as are the rest of the ewes. If I can't have baby goats until June at least I will have lambs.
Since our weather has improved I got the goathater to go out with me and catch a few of the flaky does. That was fun he likes to play cowboy and rope the goats. And of course the boys make kinda good herding dogs, on occasion on boy will run the goats one way and the other boy runs them the other way. But just like good herding dogs a good herding child takes time to develope. The fainters were funny they tried to run but couldn't and when I reached for the collars they fell forward right on their noses. I laughted so hard I almost fell over...thankfully not though they still stink. Anyway thats life on the little farm hope everybody else is doing well.
