Hey all I just got off another site one of the topics for discussion was a barn fire. Oscala Stud (a race horse breeding and foaling facility) has had a fire in one of the barns. They believe 22 horses were lost, no details were given as far as foals, mares, studs or just who was lost. It was noted that the fire had tried to spread but was stopped, it could have been much worse. I know we are goat people here but this really touched me as my first animal was a pony, 30 years later I still have horses and can't imajine life w/o them. I know many of you even if you don't have horses feel this way about your goats and other animals, so I thought I could share this with you and you would understand. For those of you that do not know race horses, many of them are very high strung and have pets of their own to help calm them. It should also be noted that with the horses thier pests were also lost, this normally includes cats, chickens, and even goats. While I don't know for sure if any "horse pets" were lost please say a prayer for them as well just in case. No I don't know these people or the animals that were lost, still this is a major loss that deservers a moment of silence. Thanks Karen
