I notice the smell more as it comes closer to breeding time. Then it subsides in the spring and on into summer and seems to cycles like that. If bucks are dehorned and the scent gland at the top of the crown is caterized also they do not seem to smell as bad to me as the bucks with horns. But horns or no horns it is my experience that they smell worse into thier second or thrid year and then it stableises. Sorry bout the spellings.
