Thank you for that. Your dogs are definatly of great value! I have heard both sides as far as if the Great Pyr should be considered a pet or not. Some people do love on them, and let their kids play with them as pets, then there are some who told us, no if you do that they will not have their mind on what they are there for. I know of a few people who's dogs did just that. Forgot what they were there for. We have a house dog as a pet, and we wanted a dog outside to protect our animals. I guess it has a lot to do with the training, and the disposition of the dog. We chose to not allow our kids to treat him as a pet. Ralph obeys well, he does not let anyone who pulls up in our driveway out of their car or truck until we tell him it is ok, he also follows me down our loooonngg driveway each day to get the mail. He will just not allow you to pet him. I personally am ok with that. Like I said we were not looking for another pet. He gets praise, and treats from us when he does right, and understands a firm NO when he does not do right. He loves those bones too (smile).

I have to say that I am glad that we have him, and I think he is very valuable. I would not be able to sleep at night if he was not there. I am sure once he is mature, he will also be very helpful as far as the new kids go.
