I know that if you change the kind of replacer you are giving them they get the scours..I didn't realize giving them too much would cause it as well...humm..maybe you are right and we should give him small amounts at at a time. We normally feed 2 bottles per day, one in the morning, around 5am and the other in the afternoon around 4pm. My son got a whole bottle down his throat this morning with little to no trouble..Don't think he will come-a-runnin yet when he sees the bottle though, but he said after about 3 min or so..he started to get the hang of it.
I thought it was kind of funny when I saw my hubby and father inlaw pull up and this calf was on my husband's lap in the passanger side of the truck..They didn't want him to get pneumonia so they could not put him in the trailor with all that wind etc..But now..he must be feeling better or something, cause he crashed himself out of the gate. We had him seperated in a shelter..and he must have hit it hard enough, cause one of the hinges came loose..unless one of the other calves "helped him out" and did it for him..So now he is laying around.."hanging out" w/the gang..It is going to be funny when they try and feed him again this evening. I tried going out there and he won't come anywhere near me..
