That is what my vet said about it normally being unpalitable to them. He says most of the time they take a nibble and then go away, but not all the time..He lost several to Mountain Laurel the year before, and he has had many cases of Mountain Laurel Poisoning in goats in our area. Like I said as soon as I described their symptoms he knew exactly what it was. As soon as he got here, he went out and looked around and came across it within minutes! We had had the goats probably 3 or 4 months before this happened.

It was a horrible site to see them in such pain. Like I said I sat in the house and cried ..literally because they were screaming and there was nothing I could do. As soon as the vet gave them the shots it calmed them down. It took the wether the longest to heal, he couldn't walk for 2 days he was dragging himself around. Our vet said it usually takes about 3 days to get out of their system, of course depending on how much they consume. We saw a huge improvement in the 3 days time, the other goats seemed back to normal in about 4 or 5 days time, the wether it took him a few days longer..but he was standing up within 3 days or so..
