The "Goat Hater" and I both do the processing together. I know it's not most peoples idea of family time but it is for us. He puts the animal down I go into the house and get the equiptment for the processing. From there I can and have done it all. Normally he does all the removing of parts and skin. Then we bone it out and I cut the steaks chops and whatever. I bought a meat grinder so I can make sausage and hamburger. Once I did it, it was not difficult. One has to remember we do not kill because it is fun but rather to feed our family. And yes I know you can buy it at the store but I know how store food is grown and handled. I worked for a vet who raises meat cattle and my father in law worked in a packing plant. The knowledge and the stories were enough to turn me off. Also I was a vegitariean for years. Not because of moral reasons but for diet reasons (weight loss nurotisisum). Now ,probally because of how it's grown and processed, I cannot eat store meat w/o getting very sick. Kinda tells you something when I can eat a huge steak at home no problem yet a resturant steak makes me ill after just a few bites. As for being hard I think it's a mind set like pulling babies sure it's gross but it has to be done. You do and go on. Physically it can be very hard to do. I am 4'11" and 130#, 4years ago I had a major back injury and now have some sort of progressive knee thing going on. So I have to be very careful how I move things and pull on things. Feel free to ask if I left anything out.
